Edmonton, AB volunteers came together to help paint this community event mural on the afternoon of September 8, 2024 in Lansdowne Park. In this photo I’m mixing permanent paint for patient painters who are eagerly lined up to try their hand at the mural, especially the cool young girl in sunglasses!
I had a great time orchestrating this community event mural in Edmonton, AB, with kids and adults alike! All the folks in this picture had picked out their paint brushes and were ready for me to mix their cups of pre mixed paint matching the outline sketch on the wall: a giant paint by numbers!
A mother and son are all ready to be art activists for a day, dressed in disposable raincoats instead of smocks to cover their clothes from paint as I mixed their paint colours to leave their handiwork on the public participation mural. An artist-led mural initiative like this is great for community outreach as it brings a neighbourhood together through art.
An Edmonton mom and her two daughters paint their permanent family mark helping to complete the Lansdowne Park collaborative public mural. As the muralist for this artist led initiative, I’m deeply moved by photos like this as while the mural was a blur of activity for me, I get to look back to see beautiful family moments like this.
I am available for freelance. Can't wait for the next exciting project! Could be yours?
