“Moose in Snow Sunset” acrylic on canvas, 47 x 71 inches. After spending time as a purple and gold abstract action painting, this piece showed me space for moose family in a winter sunset.
As a Victoria, BC wildlife artist, I am captured in this photo immersed in my passion and craft, painting a moose calf onto a large canvas wall art piece. Against a mesmerizing backdrop of abstract purple, yellow and white hues, I reflect my artistic vision, merging the natural grace of wildlife with the vibrant energy of abstract expression.
A moose mother and calf, painted in warm sienna and yellow ochre, emerge out of a purple abstract painting with dripping green trees in a yellow sunset and realistic snow in the foreground. Painting just enough of an animal in acrylic over an abstract background can look stunning.
I painted a bull moose in the foreground of this acrylic abstract wildlife painting in a way that only partially filled in the animal, leaving part of the abstract dripping background. The antlers were fun to create: I outlined them with white, red and green china markers before adding line work in paint.
A close up of the mother, or cow, moose reveals her warm sienna and yellow ochre acrylic colors on a cool purple and blue background. My favourite part of this painting are the light blue abstract splatters behind her transparent neck and shoulders.
Acrylic gold, yellow and ochre are splashed over purples and blues on the canvas to form a landscape sunset painting. The illuminating colors of the sky make for an abstract luminism painting.
Thick green acrylic paint daubs were painted with a palette knife onto a splashed and brushed cobalt blue and gold abstract sky background to create an impressionist spruce tree with paint drips flowing down the canvas. As a Canadian wildlife artist, I look to bring new portrayals of familiar landscapes like this spruce tree and sky.
I am available for freelance. Can't wait for the next exciting project! Could be yours?
