Wolf Artwork

Wolves stir our emotions and bring out feelings wired to us from our ancestors, and those before our ancestors. My approach in creating art of wolves uses how I have experienced them in the wild, where I would never have approached them in person but have been transfixed in moments of awareness unlike any other. When I paint a wolf, I paint an evanescent moment graced by a hunter who is highly intelligent, co-operative, social and lives in some of the harshest places on earth. When wolve looked at me they looked through me, into my soul.

Two types of wolves have seen me: a timber wolf or northwestern wolf, and a coastal wolf or sea wolf. Both are distinct subspecies of the gray wolf. Once, wolves had the largest territory of any wild mammal on land, especially in the northern hemisphere.
