“Sly City Night Life” reveals our urban world on a street level at night emerging from a blue, purple and tan abstract acrylic painting on canvas. This abstract realism approach to painting uses layers of buildings, street lights, cars and a fox that are left incomplete or partially transparent letting the viewer enter new visual dimensions.
I painted this fox strolling just on the peripheral edge of this abstract cityscape based on an urban experience where I briefly hung out with a fox that was not aware of me yet. I briefly looked away and the fox vanished back into the night, sharing only a quick elusive look.
A close up of this urban Vancouver cityscape reveals the layers of overlapping blue acrylic paint splatters, brush strokes, and spreading paint with a silicone palette knife. I sparingly added street lights, vehicles and even a parking sign above a figure to suggest the feeling of action on a busy street in a fleeting moment where vehicle headlights and tail lights provide local illumination.
I am available for freelance. Can't wait for the next exciting project! Could be yours?
