Urban Marine Wildlife Paintings

The ocean is often an immediate wilderness to enter, even if set directly beside the most urban cities. We rarely venture under the waves to see that sea life has found it’s way right next to us and even directly on top of what we build. Where our cities leave room most only for animals that have become urban specialists, our ocean can bring surprising wildlife right to our urban doorstep. While life prefers a pristine and unpolluted environment, it finds its way wherever there is room.

Living in the city of Victoria, BC, my refuge is the immediate wilderness under the sea that I am fortunate to have only a short walk from my studio. These paintings of urban seascape wildlife are my expression of bringing the joy I experience with ocean life at the shores of a city to you as artworks showing how the two coexist.
