“Orca Family In Mist” was painted on canvas in acrylics and is 36 by 48 inches in size. An abstract art work splashed and brushed in muted blues and greens before the killer whales and misty ocean landscape found their way into the painting.
This canvas wall painting started as abstract art created with large blue and green brush strokes in an action painting technique. As a Vancouver Island abstract artist I often focus on large movements of paint on a canvas in a quick expression.
Large blue gestural brushwork and spontaneously applied acrylic paint were expressed onto this abstract art canvas to suggest the movement of water in the ocean foreground. I think the abstract painting is the most important part of artworks like this and sets up the whole piece.
A fully grown adult male orca with a towering 6 foot dorsal fin bursts out of Pacific waters in the right hand foreground of this BC ocean wildlife wall art. I wanted the viewer to feel this killer whale come alive with action from a direction that just misses us as the whale swims by and checks viewers out.
I am available for freelance. Can't wait for the next exciting project! Could be yours?
