This underwater ocean painting is of a bright red Giant Pacific Octopus swimming down to the sea floor in green plankton rich water. I wanted to paint the world’s largest octopus, found in BC’s coast, in full open water splendor as they are often hidden in the sea bed.
A close up picture of this original octopus wall art acrylic painting shows the arms of this octopus in action as it swims through the sunlit green sea of the Pacific ocean off the shores of British Columbia.
I loved painting this giant Pacific octopus into an acrylic artwork showing perhaps the most famous character personality in the ocean swimming away with 8 arms. We see the eye of the octopus and its mantle (the nose) in red and orange paint along with it’s siphon or funnel below the eye.
In trying to complete this original of a giant Pacific octopus swimming in a plankton rich emerald sea, it didn’t look finished. The green ocean and red octopus contrasted to much, and at the time I didn’t use wash layers of colour. Instead, I created red algae splashes to disperse the colour throughout the art piece.
I am available for freelance. Can't wait for the next exciting project! Could be yours?
