The completed 53 foot long mural in Nanaimo, BC was inspired by iconic BC artist Emily Carr. The painting utilizes large loose brush strokes that form partial curves and swirls generating movement from one side of the artwork to the other.
A purple raven flies into this outdoor Vancouver Island wall mural above a green alpine meadow. I painted blue and white clouds swirling around a purple shaded mountain in the background before shining past a cedar tree in the foreground, bending layers of perception and suggesting a deeper dimension with nature.
I was influenced by unofficial Group of Seven artist Emily Carr and impressionist Vincent VanGogh for this BC landscape mural. With the stylized trees in particular, I imagined "what if Vincent Van Gogh had a huge brush and could only make a few brush strokes."
I am available for freelance. Can't wait for the next exciting project! Could be yours?
