The right side of this Canadian military mural depicts a diverse group of members with the Canadian Armed Forces standing in a field of poppies with the Whitecourt, AB cenotaph at the center of the group. A variety of ages are represented from young cadets to an elderly veteran wrapped in a red blanket in a wheel chair.
The completed mural “Canada’s Modern Military” is 6.5 by 16 feet in size and welcomes visitors at the front entrance of the Whitecourt Legion Branch #44. I painted this Canadian military group portrait in a field of poppies with the Whitecourt, AB cenotaph as a centerpiece. The mural background depicts a line of flags representing from left to right: the Royal Canadian Air Cadets, the Mayerthorpe Army Cadets, The Royal Canadian Legion, Whitecourt, Alberta and Canada.
