River Road Rags, a small yarn and fabric shop in Chemainus and on Thetis Island, BC, commissioned me to paint this post-impressionist Emily Carr influenced landscape. My client's clever idea is primarily of a personal welcoming artwork that incorporates some of her business.
“Yarn & Fabric” in full, a tall acrylic Vanvouver Island landscape painting. The curved, light red road was painted to match the arched blue sky.
This Emily Carr influenced landscape painting has a coastal first nations carving of a bear in the left hand background, which welcomes guests to my client's home in real life. Cedar and poplar trees blend in the background with painterly brush strokes showing movement.
I painted a display stand of brightly coloured yarn and fabric in wicker baskets with knitting needles and had made teddy bears in this landscape artwork, set in a country road on Thetis Island. The painting was created as a special, idyllic setting where my client set up her yarn and fabric shop outside on a bright, sunny coastal day.
I am available for freelance. Can't wait for the next exciting project! Could be yours?
