This single panel of a young child running to give his mom a hug summarized the entire commercial and advertising campaign to “Bring them Home.”
This storyboard sequence starts with a sketch from a child's point of view looking at his hospital room while sitting on the bed. The boy jumps off, puts on his boots, and throws on his backpack complete with a teddy bear.
Continuing from the child's point of view, a nurse enters the hospital room and takes the child by the hand through a busy hospital corridor. As the storyboard artist I wanted viewers to be secure but a little lost as the camera moves around corners.
As a nurse moves a rolling hospital bed the camera pans with her and she turns off screen. Wide storyboard panels like this are useful for long camera moves, like this hallway scene.
It's important for the storyboard artist to consider the perspective of the camera. The angles for this commercial were lower for the child's point of view, so we look up at the nurse and the boy's waiting parents.
Our storyboard sequence from child's view finally comes to an end when the boy runs with open arms to embrace his joyful mother.
